My name is Scott Currie. I’m a Canadian film composer, multi-instrumentalist, & producer based in Abbotsford & Vancouver, British Columbia. I have over a decade of music industry experience recording and touring internationally with various artists, and have been scoring for film & television for the last 8 years.
One of the most important tools as a composer is the ability to communicate effectively with creatives from various fields. Translating your emotional/visual ideas into musical terms is a challenging task that I welcome and seek to integrate early by immersing myself in your cinematic vision and asking the right questions.
My music tends to prioritize emotional depth and restraint. Knowing when it’s best to let a scene breathe vs when it’s time to give it an emotional push is one of the most rewarding aspects of scoring a film.
As a touring multi-instrumentalist & producer I am proficient on many instruments in a wide variety of genres. From jazz, rock, folk, country, electronic & hip-hop to classical, avant-garde, & chamber music.
One hangout people often have when considering integrating original music into a film is the reality to timelines. I understand how much is involved in any project coming together, be it a feature length film, documentary, or commercial. I know that sometimes deadlines are tight and I am well experienced at working on fast paced productions while producing quality material.
While I have past experience in feature films, documentaries, & commercials, I am also eager to take on new challenges such a video games, indie films, & birthday partys.
